Can I rejoin my Community Power program after opting out?
Yes. Customers that previously opted out of their Community Power program are welcome to rejoin. Use the Join/Enroll link on your Community Page to rejoin your program. Changes are effective on your next available monthly meter read date. Customers that opt out and rejoin may be charged a current market rate rather than the fixed program rate. This policy is in place to discourage larger commercial customers from frequent switching but can apply to residential customers under limited circumstances. If this is the case, you will be notified by the program to approve or decline the effective rate before enrollment.
Can solar net metering customers participate in Community Power?
It depends on your net metering tariff. The utilities differentiate among customers; this is not in the control of the program.
No: Group Net Metering hosts, and customer-generators with monetary credits on your electric bill (NEM 2.0 tariff) should not use community power for your electricity supplier, you will not receive your monthly supply credit while on community power and this is a permanent loss. If you are unsure of your tariff, opt out of community power.
Yes: Customer-generators on the original tariff (NEM 1.0, roughly 2017 or earlier) that get full kWh credits on their electric bills can participate in community power and still receive their full credits and retain their bank of credits. Also, Group Net Metering members can safely participate and recieve their net metering and program benefits.
